April 27, 2016 - Via Francigena Day 11

Radicofani to Appolinare (15 km)

A beautiful morning in Radicofani, a town we wished we could have lingered in for a bit longer.  We cooked ourselves eggs, sausage,  toast and coffee for breakfast in the apartment that we had rented overnight from Airbnb.

We lingered in town admiring the sculptures in the piazza and had another cappuccino before setting out into a sunny, but very windy day.  A beautiful and friendly town that was hard to leave so soon.

This bar on the edge of town provided us with a parting cappuccino to kick start the day...

This is normally a 32 km day according to the guidebook, which would take you to Aquapendente, but we decided once again to break this day up into two more manageable days of 15 and 17 km.  We had booked an agriturisimo called Appolinare that was approximately 15 km from Radicofani.

Once out of town we quickly encountered the stiff winds as we crossed the open spaces.
A look back at Radicofani
The distances are not quite accurate at this point but give
us idea that we are getting closer!
The bar showed up just in time for lunch!

We stopped in Ponte a Rigo for lunch, about 10.5 km from Radicofani.  They have a good menu and the church next door, Sainte Elisabetta offers rooms for 8 euros per person (inquire at the bar)

Time to relax and do some laundry...

Days end...
